4th of July Weekend Celebrations. Things to do in your home town of Atlanta.

Celebrate Independence Day in Atlanta by taking advantage of one (or more!) of the many 4th of July weekend celebrations planned.

Lions, tigers, and bears…. and gorillas, pandas, and elephants too!  Zoo Atlanta invites you to join them for “Red, White, and Blue at the Zoo”. (http://www.zooatlanta.org) Get ready for a fun day the whole family can enjoy.  Arrive early as many of the animals are more active in the morning.

Experience wild life above and below the water’s surface at the largest aquarium in the western hemisphere.  The Georgia Aquarium is open on July 4th.  Marvel at the whale sharks and manta rays, enjoy the dolphin show, and get a feel for underwater life at the touch tank.  Visit the website for information on watching fireworks from the rooftop parking deck. The Braves are in town all weekend. Combine America’s favorite pastime with fireworks displays after the games on Friday and Saturday. (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com)  Cheer for the home team as the Braves take on the Phillies – Go Braves!

Enjoy the beauty of Centennial Olympic Park and the excitement of Independence Day fireworks on Saturday, July 4th.  Gates open at 6pm, with the fireworks scheduled to begin at 9pm.  Check out the website (http://www.centennialpark.com) for details and suggestions to make the most of your evening.  The United States Air Force Band of the West are among the performers at this evening’s celebration.

Whatever you choose, have a great 4th of July weekend, and check back here often to find more things to do in your home town.
